VIA and ECC Launch All-in-One Flat Panel Development
Kits for VIA EPIA Mini-ITX Mainboard Series
Effortless LVDS and RBG panel connector support for
VIA EPIA mainboards slashes development time for European
flat panel device makers
Taipei, Taiwan and Milan, Italy, 20 January 2004 - VIA
Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of
silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today
announced a new range of complete flat panel development
kits for the VIA EPIA Mini-ITX mainboard series by Milan-based
ECC Elettronica, a member of the pan-European Abacus Group
and a leading distributor of electronic components and
display solutions. With extensive support for key flat
panel connectors, the ECC kits shorten the development
cycle and simplify the design of innovative lifestyle
computing and display devices.
The new customized development kits provide a choice
of VIA EPIA Mini-ITX mainboard and fully compatible flat
panel, eliminating expensive and time-consuming compatibility
testing of various panels by system builders and enabling
an increasingly diverse range of innovative VIA EPIA Mini-ITX
based digital display devices to be brought to market
more quickly, such as information display systems in shops,
kiosks and public places, all-in-one TV PCs, and car entertainment
and navigation systems.

The ECC development kits can be customized according
to the specific requirements of the system builder, based
on the various configurations of the VIA EPIA M, CL, TC
and MII Series Mini-ITX mainboards with either the fanless
VIA Eden™ ESP or highly efficient VIA C3® processor,
and a selection of high quality flat panels from 6.4"
VGA, through 10,4" VGA RGB, 10.4" SVGA and XGA,
12.1" SVGA and XGA, 15.0" XGA, to large-screen
17" and 18" SXGA. The appropriate cabling is
also included in each kit.

LVDS/RGB Connectors
The VIA EPIA Mini-ITX series of mainboards with optional
LVDS or RGB connectors are a range of highly integrated,
low profile and quiet digital infotainment platforms with

With the sizable memory bandwidth of DDR266 SDRAM and
the high data transfer speeds of ATA/133, the VIA EPIA

applications. The latest in high-bandwidth connectivity
can also be supported with IEEE 1394 and USB 2.0 connections,
as well as S-Video and RCA TV-Out (NTSC & PAL) and
10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet on certain models. Additionally,
the VIA EPIA MII and TC offer optional CardBus Type I/Type
II and CompactFlash slots while the VIA EPIA CL includes
four COM ports and two LAN ports.
