New VIA Envy24MT Audio Controller Brings High Quality
24/192 Audio to Notebooks
Building on the acclaimed audio excellence of the VIA
Vinyl Envy line, the VIA Envy24MT delivers high resolution,
fully featured audio in a low profile, low power solution
Taipei, Taiwan, 4 June 2004 - VIA Technologies, Inc,
a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies
and PC platform solutions, today announced the VIA Vinyl
Envy24MT Audio Controller for mobile and small form factor
(SFF) PC devices that demand uncompromising audio quality.
With consumers placing increasing multimedia demands
on their notebooks, using them for gaming, music and movie
playback and more, there are growing requirements for
higher quality audio support to maximize the user experience.
While notebooks and other small form factor devices have
traditionally relied on onboard AC'97 solutions, there
have been trade-offs in quality, with such solutions compromised
by noise, constrained layouts, and limitations inherent
in AC'97 audio devices.
The VIA Vinyl Envy24MT Audio Controller is optimized
for the notebook, with a low profile design and ultra-low
power requirements. Featuring support for a number of
PC interfaces, the VIA Envy24MT Audio Controller can be
integrated onto PC motherboards, Mini-PCI cards, or even
PCMCIA cards. This design flexibility enables the VIA
Envy24MT to be used as a standard PC feature, an add-on
within a system, or integrated into external audio devices.
"Given the quickly expanding market for notebook
and small form factor systems, together with the growing
emphasis on digital media consumption, the VIA Vinyl Envy24MT
fills an important market void for high quality audio,"
commented Richard Brown, Associate Vice President of Marketing,
VIA Technologies, Inc.
The VIA Vinyl Envy24MT Audio Controller supports the
latest 24-bit/192kHz high fidelity content through analog
stereo inputs and outputs, as well digital audio connections.
For audio workstation applications, the VIA Envy24MT also
supports two MIDI ports, and low latency drivers such
as ASIO.
"With advances in Audio Hardware and Software, more
people have access to audio creation tools and, as a result,
everyday we are seeing more and more innovative, varied
content available to everyone," commented Steve Chen,
Executive Assistant to the CEO, VIA Technologies, Inc.
"The VIA Vinyl Envy24MT represents the first audio
solution that will enable devices like notebooks to become
powerful audio workstations, allowing creation to occur
wherever inspiration hits!"
