Wenchi Chen
President & CEO
VIA


Wenchi Chen has been the President & CEO of VIA Technologies, Inc. since 1992 and has overseen its transition from chipset designer to a leading developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions.

Mr. Chen's strong background in logic design, marketing, and business strategy has propelled VIA to be one of the foremost fabless semiconductor design houses in the world.

Prior to 1992, Mr. Chen co-founded and was President & CEO of Symphony Laboratories. He also held positions of VP Sales and Marketing at hi-tech start up ULSI, and senior architect at Intel Corporation.

Mr. Chen holds an MSEE degree from National Taiwan University and an MSCS from the California Institute of Technology.

Otto Berkes
Architect, Ultra-Mobile PC
Microsoft


Otto Berkes was born in Hungary and raised and educated in the United States.  He has a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Middlebury College and a Master's degree in CS/EE from the University of Vermont.  Before joining Microsoft in 1993, he worked at Autodesk where he developed the graphics engine for AutoCad 11.  At Microsoft, he authored the first software-accelerated OpenGL pipeline to enable real-time 3D rendering and led the development team through several Windows releases.  Subsequently, he was responsible for the development of DirectX graphics through DirectX 8.  As an Xbox Founder, he led the initial prototyping and development effort.  He was also a principle in incubation work that led to the formation of Media Center.  Most recently, he is the father of the Origami project and the architect of the ultra-mobile PC platform.

Timothy Chen

Tim Chen is responsible for VIA worldwide business development and strategic partnerships. Besides presiding over VIA US Sales & Marketing, he serves as technical assistant to the President and CEO of VIA, Wenchi Chen. With VIA since 1996, Chen began his career in its Taiwan headquarters, where he managed the sales and marketing offices of Japan and Korea. Chen holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of California Berkeley.

Roger Yuen
VP of Asia & Global Operations
Packard Bell


Roger is the VP of Asia & Global Operations, Packard Bell. He is responsible for all business development in Asia and management of the global operations. Prior to this, Roger was the VP International of CNET Networks Inc and had also held senior executive management positions with Ziff-Davis and SB Holdings (SOFTBank).

Kuo Lung Chang

A graduate of National Chiao-Tung University, Dr. Chang received his Ph.D degree from the University of North Texas. He has in-depth knowledge and experiences in peer-to-peer networking, IC design, DSP, embedded system design, and large scale business/multimedia software development.  He was the chief lecture of ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) professional training program of Sun Micro and III, and has been chief consultant for ezPeer, Vantech Software, Simcapro Sound.  He has also been in several management positions including senior VP of Best 3C, R&D VP of Lung-Hua Electronic, and EVP of CEMAX Inc., Pacific Group.

He is now the CEO of AWIND, a company that is invested by Softbank. AWIND has gained big attention from Microsoft for their Plug-&-Show network projection solution, and hence has become an ADP of CE 6.0 of Microsoft. AWIND has also developed a prototype of digital home product which is considered to be a revolutionary solution to bridge PCs and TVs via transfer complete PC desktop operations wirelessly to the living room. AWIND is now co-developing a next generation home entertainment solution with VIA Technologies Inc.

Gregoire Gentil

Gregoire Gentil is Zonbu's Co-founder & CEO. Zonbu is Grégoire's fourth startup in twelve years. His most recent success was Twingo, acquired by Cisco Systems in 2004. In addition to his entrepreneurial background, he has broad technical expertise in designing and developing complex software solutions. Grégoire earned an MS in civil engineering from École des Ponts et Chaussées, an MS in math and physics from École Polytechnique in France and a Masters of Science from Stanford School of Engineering. He is also an alumni of McKinsey & Company.

James Hinderliter

James Hinderliter has been Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Stonewall Networks since he co-founded the company in January 2005.  Under Mr. Hinderliter, Stonewall Networks has created the Cornerstone enterprise Security Policy Management appliance.  Prior to Stonewall Networks, Mr. Hinderliter was responsible for Cisco Systems service provider element management systems development and world-wide marketing and delivery. He joined Cisco Systems when they acquired Atlantech Technologies in 2000.  At Atlantech Technologies, Mr. Hinderliter was Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  Prior to Atlantech, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Applied Innovation (AINN).

Chuan-te Ho
Director
Research, Development and Evaluation Commission (RDEC)


Chuante Ho is Director of the Information Management Department at the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission (RDEC), part of the Executive Yuan, Taiwan, and mainly focuses on e-Government development and promotion.  Mr. Ho acquired his Masters degree in Public Administration at the National ChengChi University, whereupon his career started in public administration planning with the Kaohsiung City Government. He joined RDEC in 1985 and contributed in drafting the digital signature law of Taiwan, developing a Government Information System outsourcing system and security mechanism. Currently, Chuante is also an executive member of the National Information and Communication Initiative Committee and the National Information and Communication Security Taskforce.

Rex Wei
Lead Technology Manager, OEM Embedded Devices, Asia
Microsoft


Rex Wei joined Microsoft five years ago, and for the last three years he has been the Lead Technology Manager in Microsoft's OEM Embedded Devices group. The focus of his Greater China team is to help Microsoft's embedded partners understand the embedded solutions Microsoft provides and to resolve technical issues. For the first two years with Microsoft, he was a Software Design Engineer at the Microsoft DSS Solution Center, focusing on BSP and device driver development for the Windows CE and Mobile platforms. His major responsibility is helping OEM/ODMs to adopt Microsoft Windows Mobile Smartphone and PocketPC solutions, and he has been a developer on various Windows CE application and system level projects over the past two years. Rex started his career in Embedded Systems in 1995 after gaining a Masters degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Patrick Wang

Patrick has 15 years of sales and management experience, including eleven years in management roles, with a strong background in solution sales. Patrick has been with Wyse since 2006, based in Beijing; he is in charge of business development to provide customers, partners, and VAR in Greater China with the best Thin Client products and solutions from Wyse. As thin clients see rapid growth in the region due to the increased security, cost and environmental considerations, Patrick is focused on promotion and business growth for Wyse within existing customer markets as well as new industry penetration.

Epan Wu
Deputy Director, System Platform Division
VIA Technologies, Inc.


Epan has been with VIA Technologies since 1999. Her responsbilities include the management of the VIA CPU Platform products, supporting the VIA CPU Platform projects as well as coordination of the marketing activities. Being with the VIA CPU team since the beginning, she has coordinated and managed the VIA CPU Platform transition, growth, and expansion from embedded market usage to a broader range of applications that leverage the x86 platform technology.

Epan holds a bachelor's degree in Information Management from the National Taiwan University.

Dr. Allan Yang
Corporate Fellow
GTNT H.K. Limited


After Dr. Allan Yang received his Ph.D. in Computer Simulation from Salford University, UK in 1974, his career started in telecommunications with the completion of 11 telephony operations automation projects. His leadership portfolio boasts a wide range of notable ventures throughout the world. Dr. Yang co-founded seven Joint Venture companies in China which launched the pan-China Great-Wall Paging and Packet Switching services in China. He went on to partner with Teltec Electronic Systems Limited in order to restructure the movie production business of the Salon Groups of companies into a multimedia, internet telecom network for movie production, and TV marketing and sales integrated service company. Growing in his telecom endeavors, Yang directed Harrow Telecom Limited, a registered company in the UK, converting the Windows based servers into Linux based servers in Hong Kong. He is currently a Corporate Fellow of GTNT HK Limited and Mobile Clusters Limited to build the SIP switches for GTNT’s global telecom operations.

James Yang
General Manager, IT Business Division
CHIMEI Optoelectronics Corporation (CMO)


James Yang is the GM of the IT product Business Division at Chi-Mei Optoelectronics (CMO). He majored in physics & chemistry catalysis materials and obtained his Masters degree in chemical engineering from National Central University in 1992. He has made many efforts at global activities of products and market development of Information Technology Liquid Crystal Display (IT LCD) and was promoted from PM to Manager and subsequently Director of the IT product line, Business Division. Under his leadership, CMO's IT panel business and Medical Application & Special Application panel business together have made CMO one of the top suppliers in the world, playing an important role in the TFT-LCD industry.

Prior to joining Chi-Mei Optoelectronics, James worked as Engineer and Senior Engineer in the Optoelectronic Division of CPT, and as Deputy Manger of the STN Manufacturing Dept. at CPT before moving to Chi-Mei Optoelectronics in 1998.

Jay Yang

Jay Yang is the Senior Research Manager for IDC. Based in Taiwan, Mr. Yang is mainly responsible for data communication and telecommunications research programs in Taiwan. At present, Mr. Yang¡|s research covers broad spectrum of research covering telecommunications services and networking equipment studies which include LAN, WLAN, IP Telephony, IP-VPN, Broadband, NGN, Wireless and Fixed-line services, etc. Mr. Yang is also responsible for managing and developing consulting projects in Taiwan.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Yang was the Industry Consultant/Senior Research Manager with MIC, III. For nearly 10 years with the esteem local IT industry research organization, MIC. Yang was responsible for Telecommunication Industry research and hosted a lot both government and private sector research projects.

Mr. Yang had served AT&T & Lucent Technologies joint ventures in Taiwan for 2 years regarding Broadband Products Marketing & Switch Projects Management.

Mr. Yang holds a M.S. in Instructional Systems Technology from the Indiana University, Bloomington, US.

Dr. Mike Yang
CFO and Sr Director of Technology
Danoo, Inc.


Mike is the CFO and a senior director of Technology at Danoo, a KPCB portfolio company in out-of-home media networks based in San Francisco, USA.  His primary responsibilities are financial planning, corporate strategy, business development, and off-shore R&D.  Prior to joining Danoo, Mike held positions at several companies, including:

McKinsey & Company, where he was an Engagement Manager specialized in strategy, pricing and operation in semiconductor, LCD, telecommunication and hi-tech manufacturing;
Akamai Technologies, where he oversaw the Technical Client Services and Operation of the North America West Region;
AT&T Bell Labs, where he led the overall system integration and performance design of the Voice over IP and High Speed Network initiatives following the acquisition of MediaOne and TCI in the formation of the largest cable network in North America;
Motorola, where he led a pricing study of the China handheld market;
Scitex (Hewlett Packard), where he developed the growth strategy of the commercial grade ink jet platform;
United States Air Force, where he developed an optimization algorithm for cost effective production of jet-turbine engines.

Mike holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences, an MS in Applied Physics, and a BA with highest honors in Applied Mathematics with specializations in Biochemistry and Medical Sciences from Harvard.  Mike is also an MBA graduate and Palmer Scholar from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
