TUAF Training and Community Solution
Working together with Cornell University in the US and ADOC (APEC Digital Opportunity Center) on the ICT for Development (ICT4D) program, VIA donated a complete VIA pc-1 Community Solution to the Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), in the poorer Northern Mountainous Area of Vietnam, for the creation of a Community Information and Learning Center.
The VIA pc-1 Community Solution includes ten VIA PC Clients, nine VIA pc-1 PHD Clients and one VIA pc-1 Server. The VIA pc-1 PHD Clients features ultra low power consumption (less than 30 watts per machine) and the complete client-based solution significantly lowers the total cost per seat. In addition, the server/client configuration can be remotely updated and maintained, offering a secure central and easily manageable solution.
The TUAF Training and Community Solution enables ICT based teaching for the local and surrounding communities and provide them with the opportunity to create their own IT and multimedia content. The benefits are extended by providing locals with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and education level to prepare themselves for better employment.
