Benefits of VIA Vinyl Six-TRAC

High audio performance
The VIA Six-TRAC has 20-bit architecture and a variable sampling rate with 1Hz resolution. Supports up to 18-bit/48kHZ analog I/Os, and 16-bit/48kHZ digital I/Os.

Feature rich design
Hardware downmix option allows 6-channel performance in 2 channel outputs, and a stereo enhancement feature provides a 3D sound experience.

Wide array of connections
The VIA Six-TRAC provides 6-channel outputs fully supporting surround sound applications, along with 5 stereo and 2 mono inputs.

A small footprint 48-pin LQFP package with low power consumption that exceeds Microsoft® WHQL logo requirements.


The VIA Six-TRAC is a complete solution supporting the AC'97 2.2 specification with S/PDIF extension compliance. Enabling 6 channel outputs with 18-bit resolution the VIA Six-TRAC can support full 5.1 surround sound enabling theatre-quality home audio systems. For optimum playback performance the Six-TRAC analog mixer circuitry integrates stereo enhancement to provide a pleasing 3Ds surround sound effect for stereo media. Further provisions in the hardware allow for downmixing of 6-channel inputs such as DVDs into 4-channel, or even 2-channels outputs.

An 18-bit independent rate stereo ADC enables 5 stereo and 2 mono analog line-level inputs allowing recording from sources such as microphones, CDs, line-ins etc. With sample rate converters on all channels the VIA Six-TRAC can be adjusted in 1Hz increments allowing exacting audio manipulation. To maintain full digital audio paths the VIA Six-TRAC has an IEC958 line driver for S/PDIF compressed digital or LPCM audio outputs.

For easy integration by system designers, the VIA Six-TRAC is designed with aggressive power management to achieve low power consumption, a 3.3v or 5v power supply, and a small footprint 48-pin LQFP package. Primary applications of the VIA Six-TRAC include audio on motherboard solutions, add-in cards, and any other system that can benefit from high-quality 6-channel audio performance.
