VIA KM400A

The VIA KM400A is a high-performance chipset for Socket-A AMD Athlon and Duron processors, featuring integrated VIA UniChrome 3D/2D graphics and an advanced DDR400 SDRAM memory controller. With 64-bit channels of DDR memory, a front side bus supporting up to 400 MHz, and a 533 MB/s V-Link between the north and south bridges, the VIA KM400A is optimized for mainstream corporate and consumer desktop systems.

With an external 8x/4x AGP bus, the VIA KM400A is designed for connectivity. The innovative VIA Modular Architecture Platform (V-MAP) ensures maximum flexibility, and the VIA KM400A can be easily paired with several VIA South Bridges, including the VT8237R Plus and the VT8235. The highly acclaimed VIA VT8237R Plus South Bridge features high-speed 150MB/s dual channel connections to Serial ATA Hard Drives, support for up to eight high-speed USB 2.0 ports, and integrated V-RAID and 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet. Additionally, the VIA KM400A can also be combined with an unparalleled range of VIA companion controller chips, enabling features including Gigabit Ethernet and Firewire.
