VIA's Hyper8™ technology enables a full 16-bit bus width and 1GHz frequency for upstream and downstream buses of the HyperTransport link between an AMD64 processor and the north bridge of the chipset, providing a total theoretical frequency of 1.6GHz and a bandwidth of up to 6.4GB/s. Analysis of retail motherboards featuring chipsets from other vendors indicates many do not feature a full 16-bit/1GHz HyperTransport link between the CPU and chipset.

Measuring Frequenzies

The HyperTransport Analyzer measures and displays the frequency in MHz for upstream and downstream values, and the bus width in bits, for all HyperTransport CPU to chipset links on AMD64 CPU based systems.
