VIA KT266A |
Building on the proven power and reliability of the VIA Apollo KT266,
the VIA Apollo KT266A further raises the performance bar AMD Athlon™
and AMD Duron™ processor based systems. The VIA Apollo KT266A is the
first VIA chipset to feature Performance Driven Design, which includes
tightened timings and deeper queues to greatly increase memory and
system bus performance. Supporting DDR200/266 memory and a complete
range of 200/266MHz Front Side Bus AMD Athlon™ and AMD Duron™ processors,
the VIA Apollo KT266A provides lightning fast access to system memory
and increased overall system performance.
The VIA Apollo KT266A is part of the V-MAP family of chipsets, which
provides pin compatibility across the full range of VIA DDR products.
V-MAP, or VIA Modular Architecture Platform, allows motherboard manufacturers,
OEMs, and System Integrators to serve different market segments with
a single, unified platform design. The VIA Apollo KT266A (model number
VT8366A) is completely pin-compatible the VIA Apollo KT266 (VT8366)
to ensure rapid time to market. It can be paired with a choice of
VT8233/VT8233C South Bridges, which are connected through the chipset's
high bandwidth V-Link Hub Architecture. Other key features include
AGP4X, ATA-100, and PC133 support, as well as integrated six channel
advanced audio, six USB ports, LPC bus, and integrated 10/100Mbps
Ethernet and Home PNA, AC-97 audio, MC-97 modem, and support for AMD's
second generation PowerNow!™ technology. |

Benefits
of VIA KT266A

Performance Driven Design
The VIA Apollo KT266A features an enhanced memory controller, designed
with exceptionally high performance in mind. Supporting DDR200/266
memory, the VIA Apollo KT266A provides lightning fast access to system
memory. Timings have been improved, resulting in faster transfers
between the synchronized Front Side Bus and Memory Bus. Data queues
have been deepened, allowing faster and more efficient access to
buffered data. The end result is the industry's fastest DDR memory
controller.
VIA Modular Architecture Platform
The VIA Apollo KT266A is part of the family of VIA Modular Architecture
Platforms (V-MAP). As a modular solution, the North and South Bridge
of the VIA Apollo KT266A are completely pin compatible with current
and future products, such as the VT8233C South Bridge with integrated
3Com? Ethernet MAC. V-MAP allows flexibility when designing a system
around the VIA Apollo KT266A chipset, enabling OEMs and System Integrators
to reach different market segments with a single platform.
