VIA Atlantic II VT6526 Switch Controllers |
 |
A powerful 26-port
single-chip solution for today's networked computing environment,
the VIA VT6526 helps bring faster and more manageable
Ethernet connections.
Meeting the challenges of continually increasing data
speeds, Ethernet networks provide a reliable, fast,
upgradeable transfer medium accepted throughout the
industry. As part of VIA's Atlantic Ethernet switch
controller family, the VIA Atlantic II VT6526 is designed
with small and medium sized businesses in mind, enabling
next generation intelligent scalable switch solutions
that are affordable across the market segment.
With non-blocking store-and-forward shared memory layer-2
control, the VIA VT6526 is equipped with 4Mbits of embedded
SRAM and a high-performance switching engine that drives
forwarding and filtering at full wire speed. The VIA
VT6526 provides 24 10/100Mbps Base T/TX ports with SMII
and SS-SMII interfaces for connection to three Octal
PHY devices, making it ideal for a wide range of businesses
to network with a large number of workstations. Two
additional 10/100/1000Mbps 802.3z and 802.3ab compliant
ports connect to copper or fiber optic Gigabit lines
allowing ultra fast connections to high-speed Internet
or other servers. All ports have SMI auto-polling to
auto-configure transfer speed, duplex mode, and 802.3x
flow control making for simple plug-and-play operation.
The VIA VT6526 supports a wide range of IEEE 802.1
and 802.3 standards providing advanced network management
for improved performance and security. An easy-to-use
Web-based management system with graphical interfaces
adds convenience for network administrators in remote
network control and configuration.
Designed for easy integration by system builders, the
VIA VT6526 is available in a 208-pin LQFP package and
can be configured to a wide range of options such as
an intelligent switch solution with an ARM-7 processor,
or a smart switch solution with an 8051 processor, to
a dumb 24+2G switch solution using an EEPROM or strapping-only
initialization.
