Controller ensures seamless plug-and-play connectivity
to new generation USB2.0-enabled peripheral devices,
delivering data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps.
In supporting the 32-bit PCI and Cardbus (PCMCIA) interfaces,
the VIA Vectro VT6214 satisfies the peripheral interface
requirements of multiple markets such as add-in cards
and PCMCIA cards for mobile systems.
The VIA Vectro VT6214 provides unparalleled support
for IEEE1394, Serial ATA and Gigabit Ethernet, enabling
customers to incorporate the latest communication technologies
in a range of combination solutions to satisfy multiple
market segments. The VIA Vectro VT6214 allows OEMs to
combine USB2.0 with up to two additional leading edge
technologies on a single PCI card, delivering support
for up to four USB2.0, up to three additional IEEE1394,
one parallel ATA and two Serial ATA ports and one Gigabit
Ethernet port, enabling the running of multiple peripheral
devices simultaneously. Combo Cardbus modes features
the VIA Vectro VT6214 and IEEE1394, supporting two USB2.0
and one IEEE1394 ports, while ensuring low power consumption
and saving battery life for mobile systems.
Manufactured using a 0.22 micron CMOS process, the
VIA Vectro VT6214 integrates advanced power management
and functionality features permitting aggressive management
of I/O power consumption, making it suitable for low-power
systems and ensuring reliability in power sensitive
applications.
Incorporating two Universal Host Controller Interface
cores for full signaling and one Enhanced Host Controller
Interface core for high-speed signaling, the VIA Vectro
VT6214 is a multi-functional PCI device, utilizing the
exceptional bandwidth of USB2.0 to support a wide range
of high-speed peripherals, including high resolution
video, webcams, digital cameras, next-generation scanners
and printers and high-density storage devices. The VIA
Vectro VT6214 allows for dynamic attach and re-attach
to the USB bus to allow hot-swap of devices. The External
Serial (EEPROM) Interface enables memory retention and
supports serial number, vendor number, product ID and
miscellaneous storage.
The VIA Vectro VT6214 is available as an on-board chip,
an add-in PCI card and a 32-bit Cardbus solution, and comes in a 128-Pin PQFP
package that supports
firmware application.
Support for the VIA Vectro VT6214 is built into Microsoft
Windows XP and Windows 2000. Win98SE and WinME drivers
are also suitable for the VIA Vectro VT6214.
