VIA VT1621 TV Encoder - Bringing PC-level resolution and quality images to your TV screen

This product is available fully ROHS-compliant.

As the dynamic progression of computers and the Internet increasingly impacts on our lives, so connectivity and content delivery requirements grow more sophisticated. An increasing demand for the display of digital information and multimedia content on everyday television screens, reflected by the emerging market for set top boxes, is accelerating the rate of convergence between PC systems and traditional home and business appliances that has required the development of new technologies to bridge the digital-analog divide.

The VIA VT1621 TV encoder fulfills this function by enabling the display of digital information on analog television sets. Providing a high quality, flicker-free viewing experience across the key global video standards NTSC and PAL, the VIA VT1621 has a wide array of features to ensure the finest image quality.

Comprising a color space converter, the VIA ProScale™ multi-resolution scaler, a de-flicker filter, digital video encoder and digital-audio converter, the VIA VT1621 receives signal data input in either RGB or YCrCb format and generates video data as composite, S-video, and component interlaced formats.

The VIA VT1621 is equipped with the latest version of VIA's ProScaleTM engine technology, providing the most advanced vertical and horizontal scaling technology supporting input resolutions from 320x200 to 800x600. An adaptive deflicker filter examines the graphics on a pixel-by-pixel basis to maintain a flicker-free display. The VIA VT1621 can further output video with a Macrovision 7.1 anticopy video signal to deter unauthorized copying. Available in a low-power 44-pin TQFP package, all the features of the VIA VT1621 are software programmable through a serial bus interface that can provide read/write access to all device registers.
