VIA and Casetronic Announce Availability of Two New
Travla Mini-ITX Cases for the VIA EPIA M10000
New Travla C137 and C138 extend the range of available
low profile VIA EPIA M10000 cases enabling greater expandability
from quiet living room digital media devices
Taipei, Taiwan, 22 July 2003 - VIA Technologies, Inc,
a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies
and PC platform solutions and Casetronic Corporation,
a world leader in PC enclosure design, today announced
the introduction of the new low profile C137 and small
footprint C138 Mini-ITX cases aimed at the rapidly living
room digital media device market.
Breaking new ground in PC case design, the Travla C137
and C138 follow in the footsteps of the Travla C134
that was launched earlier this year as the smallest
case ever for the VIA EPIA M10000 Mini-ITX mainboard.
The two new Travla cases introduce higher levels of
expandability while providing the extra power required
by additional hardware, such as add-on TV-tuner cards,
for the demanding digital media applications associated
with today's living room devices.
"With the new Travla cases, we are really pushing
the limits of how much you can get into a low profile
VIA EPIA M10000 system," commented Vincent Huang,
Operations Manager, Casetronic Corporation. "They
are the first of their kind because no other cases with
similar dimensions combine the expandability of two
PCI slots and a compact flash reader with 90W of power
from a fanless power supply."
Developed specifically for living room entertainment
systems, the VIA EPIA M10000 strikes a delicate balance
between low profile design, quiet operation and digital
media performance, enabling the development of innovative
new designs that can merge with other consumer electronics
devices in the home. Prominent features on the VIA EPIA
M10000 include an integrated hardware MPEG2 decoder
in the VIA CLE266 chipset for flawless 30fps DVD playback
and VIA Vinyl Audio delivering crisp and clear 5.1 surround
sound.
"The launch of the VIA EPIA Mini-ITX Series of
mainboards has sped up the move towards lower profile
and more compact x86 based digital media devices for
the living room and other emerging markets," said
Richard Brown, Associate Vice President of Marketing,
VIA Technologies, Inc. "We see huge potential for
aesthetically pleasing low profile and compact cases,
like the Travla series, that are free from the size
and space constraints of the traditional tower box."
Contributing to their aesthetic appeal, the Travla
cases come in silver or black with a brushed aluminum
finish. Excellent ventilation, a fanless power supply
and the quiet running VIA EPIA M10000 help to keep noise
to a minimum even while running demanding digital media
applications such as playing a DVD.
