VIA Announces Winners of the VIA K8T800 Shootout Online
Contest
Lucky winners chosen from over 8,000 for Hawaii dream
holiday and high performance Maxtor 200GB Serial ATA
hard drive kits
Taipei, Taiwan, 12 November 2003 - VIA Technologies,
Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip
technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced
the lucky winner of the grand prize draw of the VIA
K8T800 Shootout online contest: an all-inclusive trip
for two to Hawaii, as well as the runners-up, who each
won a SATA 200GB Hard Drive Kit sponsored by Maxtor.
Competition entrants were required to score 8 goals
in 88 seconds in a soccer simulation game in order to
be entered into the lucky draw for a chance to win the
8-day holiday in Hawaii for two, as well as weekly prizes
of Maxtor Serial ATA Ultra Series 200GB 7200RPM Hard
Drive Kits. More than 8,000 people successfully completed
the challenge over a five week period ending October
31, including over 2,000 visitors to VIA's booth at
Computex Taipei in September, and another 1,400 visitors
to VIA's booth at ComNet Shenzhen in October.
Mr. Patrick Lo of Taipei, Taiwan was the lucky grand
prize winner, drawn from the 8,000-plus successful participants;
Patrick and his girlfriend are now planning their dream
trip to Hawaii. A Product Marketing Engineer for MSI
Taiwan, Patrick was among the thousands who entered
the VIA K8T800 Shootout contest while visiting the VIA
booth at Computex 2003 computer show held in Taipei
from 22-26 September.
"I'd never won anything before so it took a while
for VIA to convince me I had won the trip to Hawaii,"
said Patrick Lo, VIA K8T800 contest winner. "I
actually nearly didn't win as I failed to score eight
goals on my first attempt at the game, and only played
and successfully entered after returning to the VIA
booth at Computex. Thank you, VIA, this is a dream come
true!"
The four winners of the Maxtor 200GB Hard Drive Kits
were: Joseph Baccarti of Worthington, USA, Ivan Dharma
Kartolo of Germany, Dan Murphy of Russellville, USA,
and Tommy Lee of Hong Kong.
"The soccer skill basis of the VIA K8T800 Shootout
complimented the power and performance of our K8-Series
of chipsets for the AMD64 platform, and the '8' theme
tied in with our unique Hyper8 technology," commented
Shane Dennison, Marketing Manager, VIA Technologies,
Inc. "We would like to thank Maxtor for providing
superb weekly prizes of leading edge Serial ATA hard
drive kits, and, of course, the many thousands of people
who took part in this competition."
